Our Big Kids program takes elements of Music Together that children and families love and blends them with new activities, skills and challenges that are developmentally appropriate for five-to-seven year olds, focusing on BASIC MUSIC LITERACY, laying the foundation for formal instruction both in school or in private instrument lessons, as well as fostering a lifetime of joyful music-making. Activities include singing (unison and harmony), ensemble (cooperative) work, game and story songs, instrument play and improvisation. Written materials will include an "at home" element with activity pages and solfege patterns so parents can stay involved and support the learning that is happening during class. While this is not a parent-participation class in the same way our Mixed Age classes are, parents are required to attend the first class (no siblings please) and the last class (siblings welcome!). In keeping with Music Together's long-standing tradition of family music making, both parents AND siblings are invited to join in the last ten minutes of every class each week!
Please note: your child MUST have turned 5 by the first day of class
