A Music Together class is…….

•    A community of families sharing songs, instrument play, rhythm chants, and movement activities in a relaxed, playful, non-performance-oriented setting.

•    Music learned through developmentally appropriate activities that support and respect the unique learning styles of very young children.

•    Infants, toddlers,  preschoolers and kindergartners participating at their own level in family-style classes of mixed ages.

•    Parents and caregivers contributing to the enrichment of their child's music environment in class and at home – regardless of their own musical abilities.

•    A new song collection (2 CD’s and Songbook) every semester featuring great arrangements of original and traditional songs in a wide variety of tonalities, meters, and cultural styles

•    45 minutes of PURE FUN with your child every week!

MUSIC TOGETHER FOUNDATIONS

Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music program. Originally offered to the public in 1987, it pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement.   Music Together emphasizes actual music experiences rather than concepts about music and is designed to bring families together though music.

Music Together teachers/facilitators receive training and mentoring by the Centre for Music and Young Children, of Princeton, NJ.  All teachers are actively involved in ongoing professional development and EC music development education, also participating and contributing in workshops several times annually with colleagues and mentors.

WHY A MIXED AGE CLASS?

Child development researchers recommend mixed-age groupings because they foster natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating the older ones and older children learn by leading the younger ones. This family environment contrasts with a more rigid school-oriented style of learning, and allows siblings to participate together, as well as moms, dads, grandparents, and caregivers. The whole family is welcome for this essential family music experience!

PARENT PARTICIPATION

You don’t need to wonder if you have any musical talent: you do!

Music Together classes can help you develop your own talents as well as your child’s. Music Together is a comfortable place for adults to explore their own music-making abilities, which fosters the relaxed, playful atmosphere that allows learning to flourish in all children.

“Rather than simply allowing the parents to be present as observers,” explains Music Together co-founder Ken K.Guilmartin, “we took it as part of our mission to provide them with as fulfilling an experience as we give their children.”

Did you know that all children are innately musical?

Have you ever wondered what you can do to nurture the musical growth of your child, regardless of your own musical background?

Experience Music Together and find out how important--and how fun--your role can be! Mixed-age classes (0-5) provide a multitude of musical experiences for newborns to kindergartners and the grown-ups who love them.

Music Together  classes  build  on  your  child's  natural  enthusiasm  for  music  and  movement  by  providing  a  music immersion experience, and emphasizes the importance of parent and caregiver roles in nurturing early childhood music development.   Learn more about Music Together from this video http://www.musictogether.com/video_families

The early addition of daily informal music activities to a child's life fosters a lifelong disposition to be a music-maker.
